Omotola Jalade hails from Ondo State, Nigeria but grew up in Lagos State. She was raised alongside her two younger brothers, Tayo Jalade and Bolaji Jalade. Her mother, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Jalade, worked at J.T Chanrai Nigeria, and her father, Mr. Oluwashola Jalade, worked at the YMCA and the Lagos Country Club.
Omotola Jalade joined the Nigerian movie industry in 1995 and featured in her first movie titled "Venom of Justice", a movie directed by Reginald Ebere.
In 1996, she played the lead role in the movie "Mortal Inheritance". In the movie, she played a sickle-cell patient who fought for her life against all odds of survival.
Due to her outstanding performance in 'Mortal Inheritance', Omotola Jalade has earned several movie roles for herself in the movie industry acting alongside prominent A-list Nigerian actors and actresses like Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwo, Jim Iyke, Ali Nuhu, Genevieve Nnaji, Tony Umez, Emeka Ike, amongst others.
In 2010, she received her first cinematic role in the movie "Ije", a movie shot in Jos and the United States of America. The movie was the highest grossing Nollywood film at the time.
In 2012, she starred in the Nollywood thriller movie, "Last Flight to Abuja", which became the second-highest-grossing movie in West African cinemas in 2012.
Aside acting, Omotola Jalade is also a singer. In 2005, she launched her music career with the release of her debut album titled "gba".

In 1996, at age 18, Omotola Jalade got married to her lover, Captain Matthew Ekeinde, a pilot and the union is blessed with four beautiful children namely Meraiah Ekeinde, Princess Ekeinde, Micheal Ekeinde and Mathew Jnr. At 19, she had her first child. Her first daughter is a graduate while her last daughter is now in the University. The couple are now based in Los Angeles, California, USA, with their four children.
